Wedding in T-Minus 10 Days!

2 11 2011

Our wedding is in 10 days. Ten short little days to wrap up work for 2 weeks and finish the little details that weddings require. It’s a pretty crazy time for us, the whole planning process seems to have been the focus of at least my life for the last year and half. I have really enjoyed the process, I love looking at the beautiful photos from other people’s weddings, the gorgeous inspiration shoots that vendor’s put together, and it has just been a lovely break from work work. After looking at technology websites and writing telecom brochures, I have been very happy to enter into a whole new world to me, WEDDINGS. Flowers! Such beautiful flowers and crafts, all intended to make two people’s day feel as magical as they imagined. To me, looking at wedding photos is a glimpse into the couple’s personality and they just look so darn happy, it’s impossible not to smile.

We’re so looking forward to creating our own happy photo memories and share it with our loved ones.

Utah 2011!

21 03 2011

We had SOOO much fun in Utah! It was a fabulous break from life in Denver and we were blessed with about 40 inches of snow while we were there! We got 10 inches one day, 6 that night, and then 20 the night before we were leaving. Luckily, we booked an evening flight so we got to get a ski day in on Tuesday too. Unfortunately, Seth got a sudden mystery flu and was out of commission for a while. He did however rally for a long tram run on the epic powder day.

Tuesday morning we woke to loud booms and the entire Cliff Lodge vibrating with the force of the avalanche blasts. That is the sound of an epic ski day ahead :)

A big thanks to George, Tonia and Nina for hosting us! It was so much fun to be with family and have everyone get to know each other better, in  reference to Seth and the fam. Thanks to JD for some great powder skiing tips that I desperately needed.

February is Almost Over!

27 02 2011

I made a point to take a lot of photos this February and I think it was a success! We’ve been having a great February – spending a lot of time with friends and skiing. We took the weekend off because next weekend we’re heading to Utah!

For those of you that don’t know, my cousin George has a time share at Snowbird so every other year is a Snowbird year. Two years ago, as many of you can remember, I broke my arm on the Wednesday night before my scheduled Friday flight to Salt Lake.  I went anyway and had a great time with the family, went snowshoeing and relaxed in the hot tub (with a plastic bag over my arm….

This year will hopefully be different. Seth is coming this year too so it should be a great time! I also have a new Patagonia jacket coming in the mail Monday that I’ll be sporting :) I’ll post pictures when we get back!

New Member of the Fam – the Volvo!

4 02 2011

Well, the Saab has officially died (transmission) and a replacement is here! Yesterday Seth and I drove down to Littleton, CO to pick up the newest member of the family – a 2001 Volvo XC70. She is all wheel drive, has a ton of space in the back with the luxury of the gas mileage of a car. We’re very excited to finally have a car that will fit the whole gang, pups included, and make it to our destination without having to fill up the gas tank.

Kudos to Big Blue, Seth’s Chevy work truck, for being very good to me these past few weeks. You deserve another rest!

I’m expecting to take the Volvo far and wide this winter up to the mountains and fingers crossed, over to Moab – finally this Spring/Summer or maybe even the fall!! I have been dying to drive to Moab, Utah to camp in the desert since coming to Colorado. Expect photos this spring, pending we can fit it in with all the wedding craziness this year!

Recent Work

11 01 2011

I know that most of you “know what I do” but I thought it might be fun if I posted a few samples of work that I actually do.

A big part of what I have been doing recently is producing videos. This means I have written scripts (that involve unwanted client changes), created storyboards, coordinated and supervised the creation of the video at the studio through post-production to get it to where it is today. I created an illustrated product video for Level 3 Communications (1 of 6 Tier 1 Internet providers in the world) that after much excitement spawned a contract for another 5 videos in the same style.

Here is a sample of one of those videos! It is explaining the product/service “Converged Business Network”:
http://www.level3.com/index.cfm?pageID=386&width=630&height=389&file=web/cbn.flv

Another example of video work that I have done is also tied to a website that I managed. This company, picoSpin has created a really innovative NMR Spectrometer. Think about when computers were the size of an entire room and then a laptop… that is pretty much what they have done with the NMR Spectrometer. They have created one the size of a shoe box (and doesn’t require a ladder to reach it’s so large).  So for picoSpin I oversaw the creative, project managed and helped a little with their writing.

Their website is: www.picospin.com

Here, check out the overall design of the website, ability to navigate through the website, check out the video (home page, bottom left) and there are some pieces of collateral on the “Application” pages although they’re not really that exciting other than from a standpoint of the design of marketing collateral pieces.

Another website I managed you can view here: http://www.electricroadway.com/

There is of course more, but not everything is “live” on the web and a lot of work goes into the scripts and storyboards for the videos above – especially the illustrated video. Some of these things I am entering to see if they will win an award and I will let you know what comes of it!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

3 01 2011

What a great Christmas we had this year! Seth and I really enjoyed our trip back East. We got to see a lot of the Gallagher clan and even some of the Hutts too, due to the Nor’Easter! I’m so glad Seth was able to come to celebrate Christmas with my family and meet some more of the gang, especially Grammy and Papa. That was really special for me! Most of the trip back was spent in New Hampshire with my parents, brother and his fiancée. It was wonderful to have everyone together – I think it was a first! We even pulled together some awesome outfits to go sledding.

We also had a great Thanksgiving in Colorado. We had about 10 or so people over to the house for dinner. I cooked my first turkey and stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce…! Seth also smoked a turkey on the grill which was awesome and a little different! New year’s eve came and went but we had a great time on New Year’s day at the annual Pennsylvania Day with Seth’s friends from PA. We had our mandatory pork and sauerkraut as well as a bunch of other Pennsylvanian foods and fun.

Wedding planning was put on hold a little bit during the holidays which was kind of a nice break. We are returning to the swing of things now and are back to plugging away at the details!

I have a backlog of photos here from Thanksgiving and Christmas so you can view them all by clicking here!

Summer has Come to an End

9 10 2010

Make way Summer – Fall is here and here to stay! Fall is certainly my most favorite season of the year and it is finally here! The colors are just about turning here in the foothills and I hear the aspen’s are in full force in the high country. Foliage here is certainly different from back East but is still quite beautiful. The trees still turn and leaves drop, but here there are low bushes and other flora that have flowers that turn yellow and leaves that turn bright reds. Seth had a friend visiting last weekend and we all went for a hike – the colors were gorgeous!

At the end of September we had our 2nd annual Crab Fest party which we doubled as our engagement party! We had a bushel of Maryland blue crabs overnighted, a keg of PBR, lots of pasta salad and tons of fun. I made some sun tea and homemade lemonade that was a big hit too!  Thank you to everyone for the wonderful engagement cards!

Life since the engagement has been great and wedding planning is fun (so far!). We have set a date – 11/12/11 and will have the reception at The Woodstock Inn in Woodstock, Vermont. You can see some photos here at their website, www.woodstockinn.com. They have updated their site with fall photos. Seth and I are heading back to NH/VT in November to check it out and maybe see about ceremony sites. I’ll even be trying on some dresses at JCrew in Boston while we’re back! We don’t know very many wedding details yet, but I’m pretty set the colors being green and brown with probably a “dried rose” and gold for accent colors. It will be warm and woodsy. I can hardly wait for NEXT fall for the wedding!

Well, I hope everyone enjoyed the summer and is as ready as I am for the fall weather to be here! Please check out some photos from the last 2 months here on facebook:

The Ring

15 09 2010

Okay, well I had to add in a few gratuitous shots of the the ring :)

What a Summer!

15 09 2010

Wow – what a summer it has been! I know it has been a while but I think I’ve talked to pretty much everyone in one form or another because of the biggest news of all – the ENGAGEMENT! We are very excited and are looking forward to sharing our wedding with family and close friends.

Backtracking a little – Ireland and Paris were fantastic! We had so much fun with the family in Ireland and really enjoyed all the places we went, things we saw and time we shared with the family. Highlight spots were Inisheer Island, the Cliffs of Moher, the sheep and cows, Garinish Island, Healy pass, Inch Strand, Dingle (where Seth bought me the ring he proposed with), the Kissane Sheep Farm, Kenmare and the Bulmer’s on tap! Oh wait, that wasn’t a spot, but it was great.

Paris was great too. We saw a lot of the museums, did a lot of walking and ate some of the best food of our lives. The food was not the simple elegance of Italy I’m used to – it was heavy, complex and deeply delicious. We ate so many crunchy on the outside, chewy, buttery baguettes with rich, creamy cheeses; sweet little French strawberries and succulent heirloom tomatoes.  My favorite of all was my first meal of lamb chops with a cream sauce drizzled on top, a roasted veggie and herbed goat cheese stack and thin sliced finger potatoes.

I also had my birthday in Paris – 25! It turns out to be a memorable one since that is the day we got engaged! We were on the lawn looking up at the Eiffel Tower just before 11pm when the lights display went off and he pulled the ring out. Of course the answer was yes. It was a trip we will never forget!

You can see Paris photos here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2181908&id=13800408&l=d36d2ca6bd

Unfortunately, we lost a part of the family while we were away. Kyne passed away while we were in Ireland. He was an amazing companion and family member. We miss him very much – every day. He was a spunky little guy till the end – always ready to play, bring you his favorite toy and lick you until you couldn’t be licked anymore.

We have adjusted back to life in Golden – a new two dog family. We received a beautiful engagement ring from Seth’s mother, something she inherited from a close family friend, whom Seth knows as Grandma Snook. We are having an engagement “Crab Fest” party this Saturday that should be fun!

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to fall – I’m ready for my allergies to stop bothering me!
